Pyran Designated a Partner in $2,500,000 Department of Energy Funding

On October 15, 2020, Pyran, through the University of Wisconsin, along with Amcor, the National Renewable Energy Laboratory, Stora Enso, and the University of Oklahoma, will receive $2,500,000 in collaboration with the BOTTLE Laboratory Consortium to help tackle the challenges of plastic waste.

This funding is part of $27 million in the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) funding for 12 projects that will support the development of advanced plastics recycling technologies and new plastics that are recyclable-by-design.

The funding is also part of DOE’s Plastics Innovation Challenge, which draws on the research capabilities of DOE National Laboratories, universities, and industry to accelerate innovations in energy-efficient plastics recycling technologies.

"Pyran is delighted to be named a partner on this Department of Energy grant aimed at solving the plastic pollution crisis," said Co-Founder Dr. Kevin Barnett. "We are optimistic that Pyran's renewable products can be utilized to find cost-effective, groundbreaking solutions for eliminating the plastic waste that ends up in our oceans and landfills."
